FAQ - Sage Instant Accounts

Question
Sage .PDF files will not print
Answer

We had an error with Sage where, when trying to print an invoice as a pdf it appeared to be successful but no file was saved in the chosen directory.

After some troubleshooting and system checks we found that it was a problem with running Sage on the Windows Server 2008 operating system. The same problem also occurs on Windows 7. The error goes away, however, when running Sage on Windows Vista or Windows 7 using Windows XP Service Pack 3 compatibility mode.

Therefore, if you are experiencing this error on Windows 7, refer to the image below and follow the steps to fix it:

Sage PDF files wont print - compatibility SS

  • Right click the Sage icon
  • Click "Properties"
  • Click the "Compatibility" tab
  • Tick the box for "Run this problem in compatibility mode for:"
  • In the drop down box below, choose "Windows XP (Service Pack 3)" (Or latest XP service pack equivalent)
  • Click "OK"
  • Double click the Sage icon and try to export an invoice as a PDF file.

The steps above may apply to other operating systems (Mainly Windows Server 2008) so they would be worth trying if you are not running Windows 7.
