1. You will need to know where the server install files are. If
you have not got this information in an Ava contact or
application support file: go to a working PC and open
explorer. Note how the AvaPA specific (Network) folders on your
server (Update and Template) are mapped to that PC
The view will differ in Windows XP and Vista
Windows Vista:

Wndows XP:

2. Now go to the "clean" machine and log in as administrator for
the PC
3. Open Explorer and check that the Update and Template
directories/folders are mapped to the local computer. If not map
them as the other PC. (Menu item: Tools | Map network drives in XP
and Menu item: Map network drives in Vista)
4. Open the Update folder: there will be a file client install
either in this folder or in a sub folder depending on the initial
install.

5. Click on it.
6. You will then get a dialog box:

7. Click "Continue"
8. You will then get a warning instruction window to close all
other applications:

9. Click "Next"
10. You will need to accept the licensing conditions (option). If
you request someone else to do the installation, this is implicit
acceptance of the licensing agreement. The agreement attempt to
invalidate any rights you may have under UK law.

11. Click "Next"
12. The information window provides directions on upgrading from
single to multi user.
13. Click "Next"
14. You can now choose the precise install location. The disk
requirements refer to a single user stand alone installation or
laptop (overnight / weekend use) install
15. Click "Next"
14. Select the type of install this should be "Network Client
Installation"

15. Click "Next"
16. If the installation detects that there has been a previous
install you will be notified
17. Click "Yes" to continue
18. You can now choose the name for the program folder on the start
menu

19. Click "Next"
20. You can now choose which short cuts to install. If the install
detects a previous install these check boxes will be deselected.
You can check them and it will not damage the install.

21. Click "Next"
22. A summary of the install options is now displayed.
23. Click "Next" if you are happy!
23. A progress bar will now display with information about the
progress

24. Please reboot if asked, then please run the program to complete
any installation steps. All libraries that you may be prompted to
install are Microsoft Libraries and have been fully virus checked
prior to distribution.
25. Please also check the Microsoft web site for any Service Packs
for the Microsoft Desktop Database engine or your operating system.

26. If necessary reboot and please log on again as
administrator
27. Click on any AvaPA Icon
28 You will get a small window which asks you to select the network
(update) folder. This is the one that was mapped in step 3. Click
the "find AvaPa.exe folder to update from" button, and navigate to
the (mapped) update drive. Select the avapa.exe file there.

29. The application will copy the latest files from this folder.
This may take a minute.
30 You will get a display saying that the update is complete

31. You can now click on any AvaPA icon to run the program. The
first time you connect to any AvaPA database you will get an
information box telling you that the locale is being set to 1 -
this is relevant only if you have more that one server. Click
continue.
