FAQ - Set up Email

Question
SMTP Port number
Answer

There are lots of servers out there each doing different jobs: email, web sites, instant messaging etc. Because we might want one server doing more than one particular job, a "port number" can be assigned to each job to help filter incoming connections to the service that the user wants.

A port number is a number that is appended to an IP address. It can be between 1 and around 65,000. You need to specify this port number in order for AvaWeb to be able to connect to your SMTP server and send emails.

If you do not know your SMTP port number please contact your network administrator.
